Lessons from Ramadan to Carry Forward in Life

Celebrating the Blessings of Ramadan

Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim.

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu.

On this blessed day of Eid ul Fitr, let us come together to celebrate the immense blessings that we have received during the holy month of Ramadan. As the Quran states:

“O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become righteous.” (2:183)

The month of Ramadan is a time of spiritual rejuvenation, where we have strived to purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, and draw closer to our Creator. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven.” (Bukhari)

The Significance of Eid ul Fitr

Eid ul Fitr is a celebration of our success in fulfilling the obligations of Ramadan. It is a time to express our gratitude to Allah for granting us the opportunity to fast, pray, and engage in acts of charity and good deeds. As Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah, may peace be upon him, said:

“Eid ul Fitr is a day of thanksgiving and gratitude to Allah, the Exalted, for having enabled us to observe the fast of Ramadan and to perform other acts of worship and obedience.” (Malfuzat, Vol. 3, p. 170)

Lessons from Ramadan

During Ramadan, we have learned valuable lessons that we must carry forward into our daily lives. Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad, the Second Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, said:

“The purpose of fasting is not merely to abstain from food and drink, but to cultivate the habit of obedience to Allah and to develop a strong relationship with Him.” (Khutbat-e-Mahmood, Vol. 1, p. 239)

Let us reflect on the lessons we have learned and strive to implement them in our lives, so that we may become true servants of Allah and be a source of guidance and inspiration for others.

The Importance of Unity and Brotherhood

On this Eid ul Fitr, let us also remember the importance of unity and brotherhood within the Muslim community. As Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, has said:

“The true spirit of Eid is to foster unity, love, and brotherhood amongst the believers. It is a time to forgive one another, to strengthen the bonds of friendship, and to work together for the betterment of our community and the world at large.” (Friday Sermon, June 15, 2018)

My dear brothers and sisters, let us embrace this spirit of unity and work together to spread the message of Islam, which is a message of peace, love, and compassion for all of humanity.

Conclusion

On this blessed day of Eid ul Fitr, let us renew our commitment to Allah and strive to become better Muslims, better human beings, and better members of our community. May Allah bless us all and grant us the strength to continue on the path of righteousness. Eid Mubarak!
