Why the Qur’an Still Resonates with Skeptics, Scientists, and the Spiritually Starved
EDITORIAL: “Become God’s Beggar, Not the World’s Performer — A Call to the Restless Hearts of the Digital Age.” Inspired by the spiritual insights of Dr. Fahim-ul-Kureshi’s address at Jalsa Salana UK 2025.
In an age dominated by curated perfection, where hearts race for likes and souls are bartered for fleeting applause, a voice rises—not to condemn but to awaken. It seeks to reorient a distracted world toward something eternal and real.
That voice is not one of an influencer seeking virality, nor is it that of a self-help guru or a motivational speaker. Instead, it is the echo of the Divine, conveyed through the timeless verses of the Holy Qur’an, brought to life and illuminated in the compelling address by Dr. Fahim-ul-Kureshi.
This is not blind faith masked by rituals, nor is it dogma disguised as discipline. This is the Qur’an—a living, breathing miracle that speaks directly to the 21st-century mind with surgical precision, while also offering the tenderness of a Friend calling a lost soul home.
Title: The Beggar and the Performer
In a bustling city, a beggar sat on a street corner every day. He wore tattered clothes and held a small cup, hoping for spare change from passersby. Despite his difficult life, the beggar had a warm smile and kind eyes.
Not far away, a street performer captivated crowds with his incredible talent. He juggled, danced, and played music, drawing large audiences who clapped and cheered. People often donated money to the performer, appreciating his skills and entertainment.
One day, after an impressive show, the performer noticed the beggar sitting quietly nearby. Struck by a sudden impulse, he approached the beggar and asked if he would like to join him in the performance. The beggar was surprised but grateful for the opportunity.
Together, they decided to create a unique act that combined the performer’s talents with the beggar’s storytelling. The performer would juggle while the beggar shared stories from his life, captivating the audience in a new way.
As they performed, the crowd grew larger than ever. People were not only entertained but also moved by the beggar’s heartfelt stories. They began to understand the beggar’s experiences and challenges, leading to a greater appreciation for him as a person.
By the end of the day, both the performer and the beggar received more donations than they had ever hoped for. They formed a bond that went beyond their performances, teaching them the value of compassion and collaboration.
From that day forward, the beggar and the performer continued to work together, sharing their talents and stories, and reminding everyone that kindness and understanding can bring people together in unexpected ways.
Dr. Fahim addresses the spiritual crisis of our time: restlessness. This issue stems not from a lack of belief but from a lack of peace.
We are weary performers, yearning for validation, recognition, and attention. However, the more we chase the spotlight, the more invisible we become within.
However, the Holy Qur’an invites us to do the opposite: to not perform, but to surrender ourselves and become beggars at God’s door.
When we humble ourselves at His threshold, with our egos shattered, and are the first to apologize, reconcile, and say “salaam,” we do not lose our dignity; instead, we reclaim it. In Tahajjud, through humility and sincere prayer, the restless heart finds peace.
“Miracles in Plain Sight”
The Qur’an does not require belief; it encourages exploration and offers evidence to support its claims.
- Pharaoh’s Preserved Body: Over 3,000 years ago, a tyrant drowned in the sea. The Qur’an foretold that his body would be preserved as a sign for future generations. In 1898, Victor Loret discovered this very mummy in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings. Today, it rests in Cairo—not as a myth, but as a fulfilled prophecy.
- The Digestive Secret of the Housefly: The Qur’an states that if a fly takes something, it cannot be retrieved. Centuries later, science discovered that houseflies digest their food externally, meaning that what they consume cannot be recovered. This molecular phenomenon was revealed in an era before the invention of microscopes.
- Mass Distribution of Books: At a time when parchment was scarce, the Qur’an predicted a future where books would be widely distributed. Today, the world is filled with both printed and digital pages—a realization of literacy foretold by an unlettered Prophet.
These are not mere coincidences; they are confirmations that have been layered throughout time.
The Qur’an discusses concepts like the Big Bang, cosmic expansion, embryology, evolution, the water cycle, ocean darkness, and even nuclear destruction—centuries before these ideas appeared in scientific discourse.
Tomorrow’s Prophecies — Today’s Realities
The Qur’an speaks not only about the past but also extends its message into the future.
- Life Beyond Earth: The Qur’an states that creatures are found throughout the heavens and the earth. Long before the advent of space telescopes or interstellar probes, it affirmed that we are not alone.
- In an era of AI and digital deception, the Qur’an remains preserved. It promised to protect itself—and it has succeeded.
- The Return of Jesus (as): For those who are anticipating a physical descent from the skies, the Qur’an clarifies that no one will come from the heavens. Over a century ago, a prophecy was made that generations would wait anxiously, but ultimately in vain. We are witnessing that restlessness now.
God Still Speaks.
The strongest evidence for God is seen in transformed lives.
Dr. Fahim recalls an event in Ghana from 1939. A preacher prayed for a sign, and within a week, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck. One hundred eighty souls accepted Islam as a result. Since then, Ghana has not experienced another major quake. Was this merely a coincidence or a divine answer?
God continues to speak, but only to those who listen with humility.
